Ja schon wieder ein Post zum Thema Autofahren und ja, schon wieder hat er irgendwie, irgendwas mit Elektroautos zu tun. Aber abseits der Recherchen zum Thema Elektromobilität habe ich mir einmal Gedanken darüber gemacht, was das Thema Mobilität für mich wirklich bedeutet und ob es tatsächlich nur das ist, was für mich das Auto zu einem notwendigen Gegenstand meines Lebens macht.
Seit mehreren Monaten beschäftige ich mich nun intensiv mit dem Thema Elektromobilität in Deutschland. Natürlich beziehe ich die aktuellen Umstände auf dem Weg zur vollektrischen Mobilität vollständig auf meine Bedürfnisse, habe aber auch die bei mir doch eher seltenen Langstrecken mit einbezogen.

Sämtliche Hardware bei mir zu Hause betreibe ich der Sauberkeit und natürlich der einfacheren Strukturierbarkeit und Wartungsfähigkeit halber in einem kleinen Rack auf meinem Basteltisch. In diesem Rack habe ich derzeit ein kleines 2-Bay Synology NAS, einen Supermicro 1-HE Server, mehrere Raspberry Pi, einen Cisco 24 Port managed Switch und auch den NUC untergebracht. Desweiteren befinden sich hier auch einige Home Automation Bridges für OpenHAB. Das Rack selbst verfügt momentan noch nicht über eine eigene Kühlung. Allerdings werde ich wohl für den kommenden Sommer ein paar große, aber dennoch leise Lüfter anbringen.

Wir haben Proxmox am Laufen! Ich weiß, ich hab an dieser Stelle ein anderes Tutorial versprochen, aber ich möchte dieses hier dazwischenschieben, bevor ich vergesse, was ich alles gemacht habe. Ich habe hier ein paar Stunden meines Lebens investiert, weil die Tutorials die man derzeit online findet, nicht ganz eindeutig sind und man wieder einmal mehrere Quellen zu Rate ziehen muss. Daher möchte ich mein Wissen einmal hier zusammentragen.

Wie im Intropost bereits erwählt bildet ein Intel NUC die Basis für dieses Projekt. Ich setze hier auf eine der “günstigeren” Varianten mit einem Celeron J3455. Da dieser mit 10W TDP auskommt, halten sich die Stromkosten damit in Grenzen.

Next Level: Das ist quasi das Motto meines neuen Projektes. Als Systemadministrator kann es ja nicht angehen, dass sämtliche Services, die ich zu Hause in Anspruch nehme auf einer Raspberry Pi 3 gehostet sind, die unter der Last schon auf dem letzten Loch pfeift. Den Entschluss, dass hier etwas neues her muss, habe ich schon vor einiger Zeit getroffen, was genau angeschafft werden sollte, musste ich mir aber längere Zeit überlegen.
So for the past years, one of my little sideprojects was a little tinkering with home automation. Five years ago i started all this with a Raspberry Pi, an Arduino Duemillanove and some high voltage photocouplers. One of the first things I did was making my electric door opener available on the internet. For that I scripted a bash code into php which injected parameters into an Arduino sketch which was basically just switching on the 5V pins. The 5V pins then were connected to the control pins of the photocoupler, effectively switching on the door opener. I edited the script to just buzz the door for 5 seconds and then switching back off. Over the years I experimented more and more. But everything I did was very stressful since I had to program everything myself. I am now in the process of restructuring everything to make things more simple.

It’s been a year now since I made my entrance into the higher ranks of the Imperium. One of the largest (if not THE largest) player-run organizations in an online game ever seen. The Imperium is a player coalition in EVE-Online. An MMORPG settled in the endless reaches of space. And as unique the setting among all the other competitors may be, as unique are the organizations of people playing this game.
When you’re running an online business, you might know the following thoughts very well. There are good and bad years throughout the lifetime of your project. Whenever you feel like you’re having a good time, everything is going according to your plans or your plannings make it to a successful overall situation, there’s also times in which you have to overthink all possibilities and eventually adjust strategies and ways everything is being handled internally.
